genre : a style , especially in the arts,that involves a particular set of characteristics

hybrid: mixture of two or more genres 

sub-genres : categories a genre can be divided into for example in horror there would be gore  , killer , monster , paranormal

5  . ted - You can see that he and the man is laughing which can connote that its funny , another thing would be the fact that he is a walking talking teddy bear .

good boys - The boys seem to be quite young and look as if they have been involved with something hence why they look all messed up and dirty .

hotel Transylvania -  maturity of people would guess that this is comedy as it seems to be for kids and its a animated movie with monsters but they don't look scary in anyway  so it just seems to be a comedy .

6. A genre that most teenagers would prefer would have to be rather romance , horror or social realism . With romance it would be because a lot of teens would like a boyfriend/girlfriend so they would preferably watch it to just have a sense of what its like ( not to sure ) . Horror because , a lot of teens like a good horror  and like to watch it to keep them entertained throughout the day . Social realism because teens would possibly be going through something and need shows like this to know that it happens to others and use it to help with problems as specific characters could relate to their problems 

7. the top five ingredients to make up comedy would have to be , crime as it adds a lot of laughs , something embarrassing happening to the character adds awkwardness   . the characters doing an activity that is dangerous ( the main event that changes something ) it would still add some suspense but would be funnier as they would be screaming , crying , laughing ....

L/O: to implement genre codes and conventions 

trailers - elf(2003) , a christmas Karen , peter Rabbit 2 , kung fu panda 2 , Madagascar 3  - I've noticed in comedy movie the character /s have to over come  a mission but struggles along the way due to their smartness . animals seem to act like humans and the humans act like little kids like in elf and there is a use of swear words or PG swear words .     the character/s seem to act very chilled out in serious situations and the animals in dreamwork movies act weird to human like activities like when a pillow exploded the penguin thought it was made of little penguins . they also tend to get them selves in a lot of action like activities . there is serious music played during the action scenes but the character/s doesn't react but gets very stupid when acting serious

recipe of a horror movie 

ingredients :

method :

then serve with a portion of dramatic music , pauses and fast scenes with a lot of action

a lot of action film poster include the main characters standing with a full body shot or it shows half 

normally it includes a contrast of bright colours in the background which relates to the movie 

 less important characters seem to be smaller in the poster and ones that affect the movie  the most tend to be bigger 

 

the title goes along with the colour scheme like red , yellow , black 

 release dates are normally at the bottom mainly with marvel they have their logo above the title and focus more detail into the characters

tron: sci-fi  as it looks more futuristic and the characters seem to be wearing odd looking backpacks (that could possibly be hinting to sci-fi) setting also looks futuristic 

judgement of paris : action , it seem to have a lot of fire in the background and the character looks as if he has been in a fight - the font is also a dirty messed up style 

pans labyrinth :horror or adventure or fantasy - it has a contrast of dark blues and blacks but the girl in front of the very odd looking arch suggests that she could be on an adventure  to find something

lo: to use and develop creative techniques in photoshop 

. a lot of horror movies tend to have one main person standing in front doing an action that can link to the movie for example with smile she's smiling , also it can contain little hints to share what is to happen in the movie (pooh has an axe & the boy has something in his eye) 

. the shot is normally a close up of their face or body .

. there is a date , director and actor name  and the title will mostly be at the bottom 

. people can link that the person on the posters are rather the main focus or the haunting person(the killer,ghost ...) 

. with the font it is mainly red or white so standing out colours to gain the viewers attention and the colour  scheme tends to be rather dark colours or constantly red and black as people can get a hint of the genre as its creepy dark spooky like 

. most posters tend to have a normal background to show the setting like the boy has a house and the others have something that relates to the movie .

the camera shot that was used in this film poster -long medium shot as u can see mainly just there wastes 

the mise-en-scene in this is:

setting/background: they have involved quite a lot of the main characters for the background but the setting behind them all is the city of New York to give a generic setting for a superhero .

costume :they have added very fancy costumes for the characters like the fact dresses suits and the three superhero costumes with a very high tech feeling to add to the feeling of it being New York and everything is high tech and rich .

font style:the font style can suggest its very bold and the homecoming below with spider mans face as a letter adds a sense of creativity and possibly engages the viewer .

the outfits and the title can suggest that spider man (a High school student ) is having a key point in his school life with homecoming coming up and all the characters are dressed fancy (ones without super hero suits ) for the theme .

facial expressions : their facial expression can suggest something is to happen in the movie as most of their  faces are serious as if they're focused on something ?

editing: the suits

 and power sparks suggests its a high action movie with high advanced technology due to the mn with the wings flying and iron man flying in a expensive suit by what it seems to look like -linking back to the costume 

overall u can tell its a action superhero  fiction (as this doesn't happen in real life ) and its based towards a teenagers view point as the focus seems to be about high school which can gain a lot of possible viewers who are intrigued about these kind of subjects

- camera shot - medium long shot 

this shot type was used to give us a clear view of of his clothing, body position , facial expression and if he is holding anything like for example the gun in his hand -it also makes the viewer question as to why he is dressed like that and why he looks so serious (possibly might make the viewer want to watch the movie)

. his clothing connote  he is an agent or doing something risky 

. his weapon (gun) can suggest he is doing some dangerous , violent and risky as you don't need a gun for day to day activities 

. his facial expression can connote he is a serious character with cruel intents he is angry? mean or just a grumpy character-he isnt playing around and he seems to be respected as he is holding his head high , a very confident pose 

. the background is gold which connotes he is wealthy ? or stealing money hence why he is holding a gun and in a spy/agent like outfit it can connote he is a higher class or a very classy man . 

Diegetic sounds -car speeding across the town , explosions , voices ,car doors slamming ,guns  going off , tire screeching 

the explosions where kept in to add a dramatic effect to share with the viewer the intensity of the scene 

the tire's screeching can be kept in to add the effect that the characters are in a rush to flee somewhere or are being chased to make the viewer  understand the  action i the movie and to understand the plot more all the other sounds involved all has the same effect to ad dramatic intensity 

fade to black - used to add the effect of time changing and scene changing - cutting between clips /scenes 

near the end the dramatic effect is added by the clips speeding up and a montage of explosions cars screeching is added to make the end of the  trailer more eye catching .

1 thing from the trailer: fade to black is used when changing to scenes -to show time passing or the scenes changing 

sound effect - (diegetic sounds )the gun sounds ,trains moving , cars crashing is used to add intensity to the trailer -music changed along with the scenes so if its dramatic it will get faster /louder if its a calm scene the music will go quiet .

sound track (Dune trailer):

 start- very soft music but as the trailer progress into more intense scenes  the music gets louder and adds sharp drumming sounds  it has added diegetic sound of swords and movement to it helicopters to add to the genre of action 

the music adds a dramatic effect of going along with the trailer and following the intensity helps to show us that the genre is action/fiction  with all the tense sounds within the fighting scenes all the different elements within the music helps show with us all the different things along the trailer

facial expression ; most of the characters seem to be very serious or angry and there  is a lot of fighting in the trailer 

costume : they had a wide variety of costumes but it mostly consisted of masked people armour and cloaked suits 

background: the background shows a lot of aftermath within war  and a lot of futuristic details within

 the land its also got a very dark colour scheme 

props: it has a wide range of props within the trailer like flying ships swords helicopters 

font : has a very gold rich vibe towards it

In the Dune trailer , sound track is used effectively to add intensity  for example throughout the trailer the directer uses a soft calm sound in the beginning but as the trailer progresses it get louder within the fighting scenes to give an intense effect and make the viewer more intrigued . from that it can be evident that the genre is an action as the music can help exspress

In the Dune trailer miss-en-scene is used effectively to give the viewer a sense of the genre /movie in general for example throughout the trailer there is a rang of props , costume , facial expressions and body language .The director uses this to give the audience a view of what the genre is where the movie is set and what goes on throughout all the scenes giving them a clear view of the intensity without spoiling the movie . This trailer can also  emphasise that there is a lot of war due to all the mise-en-scene used throughout , because of this the audience can connote that it is a fiction & action movie from everything used which can gain popularity  to the movie Dune !

continuing conjuring paragraph 

soundtrack: Throughout the trailer there were pauses to add suspence and make the audience wondering to what is to happen next and the depending on the scene a loud sound was used to add to a jump scare  and during the end  church / quire music was being played to add to a nun spin off theme as the movie involves a dead nun .

camera work 2: they use a variety of camera  angles but ones they used frequently  was close ups to share the characters emotions ad they used a following effect so where ever the character moved the camera moved with them , this could possibly be the monsters point of view . They also use a characters point of view for example when Janet (the daughter /main character ) is stuck in a room with the ghost /entity the audience sees the mothers point of view 

mise-en-scene - they have given the effect of a very poor/suffering house hold with damaged walls and floors  and clothing : warn out hand me downs and very thin materials . The effect of this all shows that it is within a 70-80's time period as everything seems to be old like the old tv and how cameras seem to be glitchy as if there isnt any good quality service\internet yet
